Adult SEL Competencies

Research shows that when districts focus on building and strengthening adult SEL, there is a positive impact on student outcomes. To support districts in developing adult SEL competencies, the Region 8 Comprehensive Center and the Michigan Department collaboratively developed a professional learning series to facilitate development of each of the five social emotional learning competencies. The series includes five modules with each one centering around one of the five core adult social emotional competencies. There is also a facilitator’s guide with guidance on how to engage participants in the different activities within each module, and a fillable Participant Playbook to capture participants’ reflections.
