The 2023 National ESEA Conference was held in Indianapolis, Indiana this year from February 1 to February 4. State coordinators from the Region 8 Comprehensive Center (CC) team in partnership with representatives from the Michigan and Indiana state education agencies (SEAs) presented three workshops in the span of three days.

A colleague recently asked me what my approach to capacity building is as a state coordinator in Michigan for the Region 8 Comprehensive Center (CC).

As with any public endeavor, representation matters when it comes to the teaching profession.

What does it take to innovate across traditionally siloed spaces? In March 2020, a group of education and youth development professionals met to kick off what would become Future Proud Michigan Educator (FPME) LAUNCH.

The Region 8 Comprehensive Center (CC) team recently had a meeting to learn more deeply about our capacity building framework.

Ideally, education research and practice should be in a mutually reinforcing dialogue, with practitioners sharing insights from their experiences to inform research and researchers investigating questions of interest to practitioners and then communicating findings.

The last two years have heralded unprecedented changes in education. In a matter of weeks in March 2020, students transitioned from attending school in physical classrooms to participating—as best as they could—in virtual classrooms.

The Region 8 Comprehensive Center (Region 8 CC) team is committed to helping educators in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana to pursue educational equity for all their students.
